Stepping Stones to Food Allergies Ebook Review and Giveaway

Living with food allergies is a constant learning experience.  I can still remember how clueless and devastated I was when my children's Gastro and Allergist both confirmed their specific allergies.  Not only do I have to be more vigilant on possible reactions, our family needed to immediately have a lifestyle change.

Wheat, dairy, egg, soy, nuts, peanuts to begin with, must be removed from their diet.  If feeding 4 young children isn't challenging enough for any parent, how about removing most of the time tested dishes and snacks they love or actually eat?  Oh, don't even get me started on the horror of grocery shopping --- 2 hours of label reading only to find out that only two items are okay. Ah!  The joys of being a mom.

Over the years, food shopping has become a little bit easier.  Through trial and error, I was able to come up with a list of safe food and recipes the whole family can enjoy.  A list that was a product of countless tears, meltdowns and hundreds or should I say, countless of research hours.

Then, late last year, I was able to get in touch with Tracy Bush aka Nutrimom of Allergyphoods.com. She was on the process of publishing a resource guide called Stepping Stones to Food Allergies.  As a food allergy consultant for years, Tracy told me that the book aims to assist parents with children or individuals who are newly diagnosed with food allergies. For someone who has gone through a tough transition, I know first hand how important it is to have guide in that crucial time.  So, I volunteered to review her book.

One of the first things I noticed when I got my free copy of the ebook, is the type of language it was written.  Unlike most food allergy books which are highly scientific in nature, Stepping Stones to FA is very easy to anyone to understand.  It is very direct to the point and does not contain jargons that adds stress.  Each chapter tackles specific tips from restocking the pantry, meal ideas, recipes and even ingredient substitutions.

Then, there's a compilation of "safe" brands.  This is my favorite part of the book.  Aside from the company websites and contact information, it also provides a list of the ingredients for each product. A real time saver even to someone who's accustomed to label reading already.

For those whose heads are spinning for healthy and food allergy friendly recipes, Tracy also got you covered.  It was even divided into breakfast, lunch, dinner and dessert.  There's also a bonus chapter for snacks and sides.  With all the ideas on the book, I'm sure you'll have enough food for a month or more.

Over all, I find this book really helpful to anyone dealing with food allergies.  Whether you are a newbie or an old timer, this resource ebook is a must have. You can get a copy of The Stepping Stones to Food Allergies for $14.95 now.

If your budget is a bit tight, don't worry Nutrimom generously donated a copy for 2 lucky readers.  Simple join the giveaway below.

        Good luck!

Freebies: Tips on How to Clean your Home Faster Ebooks

Yesterday was the first day of CCD for three of my children.  Boy! I just had a reality kick on what my whole year will be. For those who have after school activities during the middle of the week, you absolutely know what I mean right?

In my house for instance, papers have already piled up.  Why do schools have to send in so much?  Then there's the clothes chaos.  Thanks to the unpredictable fall temperature, both summer and winter outfits are everywhere.

With all the daily commotion, for most of us, home cleaning and upkeep are often left at the bottom of the list.  If you or your kids have seasonal allergies though,  it is essential that we keep our house as allergen free as possible.  Sad to say but the only way to do that is to be on top of our least favorite chore.

Do you need more inspiration? Then check out what I found today. Three E-books filled with tips to help us clean the house faster.  Isn't that cool?  Best part, it's free to download now.

Friday Freebies: More Healthy Juicing Recipes Ebooks

We made it!  The first full week of school that is.  I can't believe my body is already craving for more sources of energy.  After chugging on cups of coffee for days, I have this strong urge to clean my system and detoxify.

What's my favorite detox program? To be really honest, I have none.  I never even attempted to try any of those fad detox programs.  For me, there's no sense in starving myself and keep on drinking unlimited amounts of water with a diluted pill of some sort.  If ever I fast, which is usually 4 separate days a year, I do it for something far deeper than vanity.

So what do I do? Well, there is only one type of  detox regimen that I feel comfortable and actually felt some results.  Drum roll please. Be a Vegan for a couple of days.  Okay, what I am trying to say is, to remove most of the toxins from the body, we simply eat only fruits, vegetables and seeds for least 3 days.  Sounds hard? I believe you.  Meat and potatoes gal here. That's when I realize the importance of juicing or smoothies.  Personally,  I find it a lot easier to drink my food instead of  chewing salads.  Do you agree?

There are so many combinations out there.  But the concept is still simple, all plant based ingredients and no added sweeteners.  If you are like me who easily gets bored with the same combinations, I have a special treat for you.

Check out these free downloadable e-books filled with recipes and never ending combinations.  Trust me, you will never get bored.

Hurry up! Click away and get them while they are still Free.

             Enjoy your weekend.

Friday Freebies: Juicing for Detox & Weight Loss Ebooks

Hello Food allergy friends!  I can't believe it's already Friday.  I know I have been missing in action lately.  I have been cooking non stop for my hungry swimmers and I barely have enough time to sit.  The more I try to make them physically active, the more they kept on asking for food.  Can you relate?

Anyway, one of the most asked questions I get from friends and readers is about Juicing and Detox.  I don't consider myself an expert on this topic. However, I've done some juicing for months now and even did Dr. Oz's 3 day Detox program.

I love the idea of juicing or making smoothies because it enables me to get the recommended amount of fruits and vegetables without having a big fuzz about it.  Okay, I confess, I am a meat and potato type of girl and I'm not a consistent follower of the juicing diet.  However, I devote at least 3 days a month for juicing/smoothie detox because I love how light my body feels when I do so.  Plus, it inspires me to make healthier food choices.

If you are looking for ideas and recipes for juice detox, here's my Friday free download treat for you.  Take note, I didn't try all the recipes here but I'm sure you will find one that you like.  My tip if you're feeling hesitant, pick the concoction that includes your favorite fruits and veggies.  If you already like their individual tastes, chances are you might like the combined flavors as well.

           TGIF!

Friday Freebies: Easy Paleo Diet Recipes Ebooks

I am not a big fan of diets.  However, when I first learned about my children's food allergies and the fact that our family has to eliminate specific foods such as wheat, I turned to diet recipe books for ideas.  As you may have noticed by now, I considered our family as foodies.  What I mean with that is as a family we all enjoy good and healthy food.    We are not even afraid to try something new as long as it will taste delicious.

One of my favorite source of recipe inspirations is the Paleo Diet.  Basically, this type of diet avoids grains, legumes and certain vegetables. It also enforces the use of healthy fats which I love.

For those of you who are also in a gluten free diet or just plain curious about the growing Paleo trend, I have found some interesting e cookbooks that you can download for free right now.  Though I haven't personally tried the recipes from these, I'm pretty sure, you'll find one, two  or more that you will enjoy.

What are you waiting for?  Click and download one or all of them now.

         Have a fun filled weekend!
